The Goddess Ceridwen’s Ritual for the Birth of (Name)

Enter the circle from the West, walk sun-wise to the East and salute

Walk to the North, salute and say:
May there be Peace in the North
Walk to the South, salute and say:
May there be Peace in the South
Walk to the West, salute and say:
May there be peace in the West
Walk to the East, salute and say:
May there be peace in the East
Finally, remaining in the East, facing centre and say:
May there be Peace throughout the whole world.

Cast circle, starting in the East, walking sun-wise, end in the East.
Take Water to the East and Bless:
I ask that this water be blessed and purified for the purpose of this ritual
Sprinkle water around the circle, sun-wise.
Next take fire to the East and Bless.
I ask that this fire be cleansed and consecrated for the purpose of this ritual.
Take fire around the circle, sun-wise.

Now that the circle is strengthened call upon the elements
Starting in the East
I call upon the Raven of knowledge and the element of Air, in the name of the rising sun.
South
I call upon the White Horse of Power and the element of Fire , in the name of the high sun.
West:
I call upon the Salmon of Wisdom and the element of Water, in the name of the setting sun.
And North:
I call upon the Bear of the starry heaven and the element of Earth, in the name of the sun that sleeps and the power of the moon.
Also:
May the depths and the heights bear witness tot his ritual and complete the circle of Being.

Now is the time to declare the purpose of the ritual;
I have called you all here today to help with the safe passage of (Full name of child), from the womb of his mother to the outer world.
The Mabon is held prisoner within his mother and seeks to leave, but the rides are not with them. Guardians of the realms listen, elemental beings listen, I ask that you remember the guardianship that you promised to all living things, for the purpose of balance and order.

Now recite:

Grant O Great Beings of balance and order, thy Protection
And in Protection, Strength
And in Strength, Understanding
And in Understanding, Knowledge
And in Knowledge the Knowledge of Justice
And in the Knowledge of Justice the Love of it
And in the Love of it, the Love of all Existences
And in the Love of all Existences, the love of the Great Beings and all Goodness

Then recite the Awen three times

Now is the time for our work to begin

Say:

We begin in the South, with the White Horse and the Element of Fire. I ask that you warm the womb and muscles of the mother so that the mabon knows that the rime is nigh. May (name) seek the fire of life and desire and may his heart beat strong,. Your fire will cleanse and purify the body of both child and mother, making the passage to the outer world safer and free from malignancy.
(The Horse now turns into a handsome king, with a flaming spear the king walks to the centre and is absorbed into the body of the mother).

Turn to the West and say:
The Salmon and the Element of Water is needed to break the waters of the mother. Like the pure water that flows from the sacred spring within the earth, I ask that the waters of the womb flow. May the body of the mother cry for the happiness of birth. Then (name) will surely know that the time is nigh. May his emotions be a strength and may his blood run strong around the veins of his body, Your water will show the way which he must go and bless the opening to the outer world.
(The Salmon now turns into a beautiful queen, bearing a full cup the queen walks to the centre and is absorbed into the body of the mother.)

Turn to the North and say:
The Bear and the Element of Earth is needed to shake the womb of the mother. Like the earth that shakes in order to expel what is held within, I ask that the contractions of the womb begin. Then (name) will become unsettled and will wish for the stability of the outer world, for he is no longer welcome within his mother. May your earth give strength to the body of (name) so that he may endure his birth,. May his frame be strong and beautiful and may he be connected to the land and remember the oath of his ancestors.
(The Bear turns into a strong queen, bearing a shield the queen walks to the centre and is absorbed into the body of the mother.)

Finally, face East and say:
In the East we find the Raven and the element of Air. (Name) now seeks to breath the air of life and fill his lungs with the white light of knowledge. The Awen will then descend into the soul of (name), inspiration and knowledge will be sought. May (name)’s mind be as free as the Raven and truth reign within his being. (name), listen to the wind that calls you to leave the womb, and seek the first breath which contains the Awen.
May your powers bless (name) with the ability to retain knowledge and filter truth from that knowledge and may inspiration never leave him.
(The Raven turns into a shining youth , bearing a sword the youth walks to the centre and is absorbed into the body of the mother).

May the blessing of the Uncreated One and the created word remain with (name) always
May he be blessed by the heights and the new gods,
May he be blessed by the depths and the old gods.

Out work is now complete

I give thanks to the White Horse of Power and the powers of the South,
I give thanks to the Salmon of Wisdom and the powers of the West,
I give thanks to the Bear of the starry heavens and the powers of the North.

Circle is uncast, the height and depth enters the mother and a pillar of light engulfs her. The pillar swirls with the combination of the four elemental powers, heights and depths,. The power concentrated and condenses into the mother and thee great work is complete.

mmm i wish i had found this earlier ....because the mother of my (was to be) godson just had a miscarrage so ... its a sad time for all of us but i think it'll b a learning experience a very painful 1 anyway thank u chakira for posting this i appreciate it.

I'm sorry that you found the post too late... but maybe that is telling you something... it was too late for this little one for a reason. Miscarriages are so sad. Having experienced one myself I can say that the must be one of the least understood sadnesses. My thoughts and blessings are with you and the child's family.
