Does anyone have any theories or ideas about where or how the various types of otherkin may have originated?

No but I'm trying to look into it. That's why I started that history and magick thread so when people posted sites or books I may be able to find a reference in them.

In the case of vampires there are numerous aspects to our origin.

If you beleive the more televised one, Then it is aclaimed that we are a product of an exorcism gone wrong. Instead of driving out the demon from the body, the poor misinformed catholic preist ended up killing the body but leaving the demon imprisoned within.

The most beleivable approach i've heard of was the fact that vampires existed from the beginning of time as a clan, in isolation from the humans who despised them for their numerous genetic traits and bloodlust. As the centuries drifted on the vampires began to interbreedd with humans due to their dwindling numbers. This kept the clan alive, but barely. Since not all offspring possesed the traits of the clans.

I don't know if that helps but that's all i've been able to find

and by that i mean

humans -> cain/abel -> mark of cain -> cain gets hungry -> does a common thing (drink blood) -> finds its a source of protein and gives him strength and health -> lives a lil longer than the average man (hollywood vampire made) -> turns out he only lived a a few years longer than the average protein..and it just evoloved from there..
