Hello everyone,
I have read some of the other posts here, but I find my experience of being a daemon somewhat different. It is my belief that "angels" and "demons" are of the same race of creatures but vary in their manifestations according to their personal beliefs, desires, and aesthetics. I call myself a daemon or daimon meaning a semi-divine immortal spirit of nonhuman origin, but not necessarily evil. I do not consider myself to be "fallen" because I have not changed; I never was, nor wanted to be, an "angel". I have always been a dark spirit, but that is due to my own nature and temperment. In spirit form (on the Astral) I can assume any shape I choose, a radiant being with wings or a dark shadow with eyes of flame. I am a daemon because I have a dark aesthetic and choose to manifest in forms that show this. If one of my race has a "brighter" temperment they might assume forms of beauty and light and be thought of as "angels". My race pre-exists Christianity, so while the story of Lucifer and his followers might describe a particular event involving warring factions within my race, it does not apply to my race as a whole.
The only thing that I can find to disagree with in your post is your categorisation of angel as 'one of my race has a "brighter" temperment they might assume forms of beauty and light and be thought of as "angels"'.
I have never thought of angels as beings of beauty and light. Some are, of course, others are way darker.
The angels involved in the fall were dark on both sides. The Archangel Michael who is classified as the most enlightened and bright of all angels close to GOD and leader of his armies has more blood on his hands than Hitler.
I have always thought that the fall was a civil war within an ancient civilisation and have never seen angels as being part of Christianity or having anything to do with it at all.
I suspect that in essence the Daemon and the Angel are the same and it is only the veneer placed on them by history and religion which is different.
Whether that it true or not, welcome here Umbra (I hope that i may presume to call you that as your full name would take forever for my poor little non typist fingers)
I hope that you will be a lively and informative part of our debating and that you may find a place here among the lunatics in the asylum
Wolfy, before a misunderstanding arises I think that the Daemon that Umbra is talking about is fundamentally different to the Demon that you were thinking of initially.
The word Daemon has been used to describe non human entities of many kinds and is fundamentally different to the organised religion idea of Demon as seen in things like horror movies and Japanese cartoons
But that you so much for jumping in with this.
Welcome Archi.
I am very glad to meet you.
Looking forward very much to hearing more about Angels and Daemons.
What colour are your wings?
Come To Me.
I feel that the classifications that are made regarding angels and daemons always depends on the stance of the individual making that classification. Some may see the work of the angels/daemons as being divine and so class them as being 'good' - this would also include the act of murder as in killing first born (quoting from popular myth here). But there are some who would consider that as evil, as the taking of any life is unacceptable. So which is it? In reality, neither.
The problem with good or evil, angel or daemon is that its based on the human perceptions of the world without any real knowledge of the true nature of each world and the work that needs to take place. It's the same with the title of 'Fallen.' I have used that title for myself, as I recently discussed in a different thread. It's a way of labelling myself so that others can understand. For me, the concept of Fallen is more to do with the wider context of how we were classified by those who wrote popular history, than a name for a specific action.
Those named as Angels by their very nature, as Chakira states, can be very dark. None of my Kin I have met so far has been either purely good or purely evil. However, how we appear to others is where we can be seen as a being of light. Blinding white light can easily hide a dark heart. In that way, I can agree what you say Umbraeventus. As for Lucifer, I think most accept that the minor war that took place at that time was again something that was hijacked by popular history - that event was remembered, the other wars were forgotten.
Our race has had an eventful history. Perhaps it's time for it to be remembered.
Now there's a thought Hollow Man. What colour are your wings? You've never told me.
Whatever colour wings may have been to begin with all of the fallen have ended up, one way or another with wings the colour of blood.
I some respects the fallen can appear to humans in any guise they wish, with black wings, white wings or no wings at all as I do not believe that any have physically incarnate wings, at least not permanently.
The better question would be what colour are you intending for your wings to become.
Oh I assumed they would have decided what colour their wings were by now.
You're right, I don't have incarnate wings.... only the energy or form of wings that can be so strong they can be seen or felt by others at times. As for the colour, they are a very deep blood red to black colour. Mostly they look black, but in the right light the red sheen can be seen. And I've actually never tried to make them appear any other colour other than they are... deception has been used too many times in the past.
They sound really beautiful.
