1. Can people be 'turned into' a vampyre or a were?
NO. Either you are born otherkin or you are not. A bite from a vampyre or a were could be nasty (depending on how well you know them
) but it WILL NOT 'turn' you. It cannot
2. Do all vampyres suck blood
NO. There are many different kinds of vampyres. It would appear to me that all vampyres in some way or another take pranic energy from their host (one or many at a time), some take it through the direct ingestion of blood (sanguinarian vampyres), some through the absorprion of energy (psi or psychic vampyres), some both (hybrid vampyres). Within those basic definitions are as many variations as there are individuals. Cometome has written an excellent post on the subject which is (I hope) available elsewhere in this section.
3. How can I tell what kind of otherkin I am?
Unfortunately there does not seem to be any easy answer to this one. It is possible sometimes to be able to give pointers, for example if you have an awful craving for blood coupled with sensitivity to light you MAY be a vampyre but blood lust also happens with weres and not all vampyres are light sensitive. The best advise I can think of in this respect is to think very carefully about all the things which 'speak' to you...art, literature, landscapes, dreams etc etc. Be absolutely honest and it should give you some pointers which we can then help you to develop
4. Do otherkin have 'powers'
It seems to me that whilst otherkin do not have special powers as literary vamps and weres do, they certainly have gifts to which not many humans are privy. All otherkin appear to have some kind of heightened senses, some psychic sensitivity and at least and awareness of the astral, whether or not they are able to answer it. Most weres appear to develop extra strength particularly when they are in their 'were mode', a lot of vampyres report that their hair and nails grow faster and are stronger, both experience eyes which change colour, apart from that 'differences' appear to be very individual to the person and the type of otherkin they associate with.
